What’s Driving Deforestation? Exploring Alert Drivers Data on Global Nature Watch
Join the Global Nature Watch team and researchers from Wageningen University & Research (WUR) for a closer look at the data identifying what’s driving forest disturbance alerts across the tropics.
In this webinar, we will showcase the drivers of disturbance alerts data, a high-resolution data set available on Global Nature Watch that uses machine learning and Sentinel satellite imagery to identify the likely direct drivers behind the near-real-time disturbance alerts across the Amazon, Congo Basin and Southeast Asia. We’ll share the latest data and insights from the WUR research team, followed by a demonstration of how to explore alert drivers on Global Nature Watch.
We’ll also discuss how the data can be used in practice alongside other data sets and tools to support monitoring and more informed follow-up on forest disturbances. The session will include time for questions and discussion, and we will have simultaneous interpretation to French and Spanish. This webinar will be recorded and all registrants will receive a copy of the recording.
