Many countries across Africa and Asia are projected to experience rapid urbanization and industrialization in the coming decades, resulting in a massive buildout of cement and concrete. Conventional means of this additional cement production would result in billions of tons of additional CO2 emissions. Fortunately, with innovations to cement production, urbanization, industrialization, and economic development do not need to lead to increased carbon emissions, unhealthy air pollution, or fragile fossil fuel-dependent supply chains.

Innovative, low-pollution cement and concrete solutions have been successfully piloted around the world and are now beginning to be deployed at the commercial-scale, creating the opportunity to scale-up cement production in a more sustainable, lower-pollution way.
