An Open Foundation for Water Cycle Intelligence
Every day, governments, companies, cities, and communities make decisions that shape the future of water security. One of the biggest blind spots in decision-making lies at the intersection of land and water. The benefits of natural water infrastructure—healthy forests, wetlands, grasslands, and farmlands—remain difficult to measure at the scales where decisions are made.
Today, technological advances are making it possible to build a new generation of water intelligence, one that can make the water cycle visible, measurable, and actionable. Realizing this opportunity will require collaboration to build a shared, open infrastructure for water intelligence: a common foundation of open data and models, transparent methods, interoperable tools, and AI-enabled insights that all stakeholders can build on. This has the potential to accelerate innovation, support evidence-based decision-making, and ensure that water intelligence serves as a public good.
Join World Resources Institute and partners to explore Water Cycle Intelligence—open intelligence for better decisions on water, land, and climate. Leaders from across government, science, technology, philanthropy, finance, and the private sector will delve into how we co-design this future.
