Rwanda established the Country Platform for Climate and Development as a government-led mechanism to mobilize, align and coordinate public and private investment behind the country’s climate and development priorities. It brings government institutions, development partners, financial institutions and private investors around one framework that turns national ambition into investments that can be financed.

Country platforms are now a global conversation. At COP30, a group of countries, Rwanda among them, announced plans to develop country platforms with support from the Green Climate Fund’s readiness programme, and partners launched a Country Platform Hub to connect countries with technical assistance, knowledge and finance. Many countries are therefore at the same point: moving from design to delivery, and asking what actually works.

Since its launch, Rwanda has been operationalizing the Platform through stronger coordination, development of investment opportunities and engagement with development and technical partners. The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is supporting this work through technical assistance on establishing and operationalizing the Platform.

This event moves the narrative from “launching the Platform” to “the Platform in action”. It will be candid about what has worked, what has been hard and what we have learned, and it will create space to hear how other countries are doing. This event is convened by the Ministry of Environment of Rwanda and co-hosted with World Resources Institute, with Rwanda Green Fund supporting its preparation and coordination.
