Green hydrogen, ammonia, and green fertilizer hold significant potential to drive economic growth, green industrialization, and social development in Kenya. However, these sustainable alternatives are currently much more expensive than their grey counterparts. Accelerating their adoption could deliver transformative benefits but will require overcoming substantial economic, social, and structural market barriers.

This webinar will present findings from our latest report, Transition’s Harvest: The Economics of Green Hydrogen Use for Fertilizer, which examines the cost competitiveness and non-cost barriers to green hydrogen and fertilizer production in Kenya. The session will highlight key insights on production costs, cost of capital, price elasticity, and their broader implications for farmers and the fertilizer value chain. It will also explore policy and financing pathways necessary to support equitable and sustainable growth in green fertilizer adoption.
