Blue foods (aquatic animals, plants and algae harvested or farmed for human consumption) can help countries strengthen food and nutrition security, support resilient livelihoods, and reduce food-system emissions. Yet their potential remains underrepresented in national climate planning. This webinar explores how countries can strengthen the role of blue foods in their climate commitments and turn ambition into action.

A new WRI study examines the inclusion of blue foods in 2025 Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) across 86 island and coastal countries. It finds growing recognition of fisheries and aquaculture, but significant gaps remain. Commitments focus largely on adaptation and production, with less attention to mitigation, supply chains, sustainable consumption, and equity. Few include measurable targets.

Join us for the launch webinar of this research and explore opportunities to advance blue foods in national climate planning and action. A presentation of the findings and recommendations will be followed by a panel discussion on practical experiences, opportunities and challenges in moving from climate commitments to implementation.
